Houston County Human Services Mission Statement
Houston County Human Services oversees multiple state‑supervised programs that support the well‑being, safety, and stability of county residents. Under the Human Services umbrella, two distinct departments carry out this mission:
• Social Services Department — This department includes adult and child protection, behavioral health, and other social work functions. Staff provide protective services to vulnerable adults and children, coordinate case management, and connect individuals and families with needed resources.
• Financial Assistance Department — This department administers economic support programs and provides all child support services. Staff assist low‑income and indigent individuals and families in meeting their basic needs and work toward long‑term stability and self‑sufficiency.
Together, these two departments ensure that residents receive essential protective services, child support assistance, and financial supports that promote safety, stability, and economic security.
