Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) are political subdivisions of the State established under Minnesota Statute 103C. They are the conservation experts in your community. As local government units, they provide technical assistance as well as funding and educational resources to meet the conservation needs of private landowners in their area. They work in both rural and urban settings to develop and implement voluntary programs that conserve and protect natural resources on private lands. SWCDs implement Minnesota's conservation programs via a statewide delivery system. Each SWCD is governed by a board of elected supervisors. 

Mission Statement:

The Root River Soil and Water Conservation District's purpose is to provide assistance to cooperators in managing the natural resources on their land. In addition the district will continue to educate people on local conservation issues and concerns, in order to fortify and perpetuate the conservation movement

Regular Board Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month.

November - April at 1 p.m.

May - October at 10 a.m.
