If you are looking to apply for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP), Interim Use Permit (IUP), Variance, or Zoning Amendment a public hearing is required. Public hearings for the Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission are held on the fourth Thursday of every month in the Houston County Commissioner's Room. Any changes that are made will be posted on the home page under announcements.
Agendas & Minutes
Agendas are available prior to all public hearings. Minutes will become available once they have been approved by the Board of Adjustment or Planning Commission.
Board of Adjustment agendas and minutes can be found here: BOA Agendas & Minutes
Planning Commission agendas and minutes can be found here: PC Agendas & Minutes
Notice of Pending Public Hearings
Minnesota Statutes and the Houston County Zoning Ordinance require Houston County to send notices announcing a pending public hearing to property owners located within one-quarter mile or the ten nearest property owners of the subject property, whichever is greater. Such notices invite the public to participate in the decision-making process by submitting comments or attending the public hearing. Public notices will also be published in the designated newspaper for the year and posted on the main Public Notices page here: Notice of Public Hearing
If you have received a Notice of Public Hearing in the mail or viewed the notice in the newspaper and you have questions, concerns, or would like to submit a comment, please reach out to the Zoning & Planning Department.
